Paying, payment plans and receipts
After the form comes the checkout page, with these ways to pay:
- Card, through Stripe's secure payment page. Your card details never reach us.
- PayPal, including PayPal Pay Later where PayPal offers it to you: PayPal lets you pay what is due in interest-free installments to PayPal ("Pay in 4") or monthly. That is an arrangement between you and PayPal; we are paid in full, and PayPal shows its terms before you agree.
- Check or money order by post. See Paying by check or money order.
- Course credit, if you have some from an earlier withdrawal: press Use my credit. It pays the whole amount if it can, or part of it, and the rest is paid by one of the ways above.
Payment plans
Some courses can be paid in installments. The first is paid when you register; the dates of the others are shown before you pay.
Paying by card, the later installments can be taken automatically. At checkout the box Pay the later installments automatically with this card is ticked; beside it are the exact amounts and dates. With it on:
- your card is charged on each due date, with nothing more for you to do;
- we email you before each charge, and a receipt after it;
- your card is kept by Stripe, our payment processor; we never see or store its number;
- on your Payments page you can turn it off, turn it back on, or use a different card, at any time;
- if a charge does not go through (an expired card, say), we email you a link to pay another way, and your place is kept;
- if you withdraw, the later charges stop.
Untick the box, or pay with PayPal or by check, and you pay each installment yourself: a few days before each is due we email you a secure link, and each payment also has its own button on your Payments page.
Receipts
A receipt is emailed after every payment. Your Payments page lists every registration with what was paid, what is still due and each payment's receipt, which opens as a page like our emails: choose Print or save as PDF at the top.
If a payment fails
Nothing is charged, and your registration waits for you. Go back to the checkout link in your email, or to your Payments page, and try again or choose another way to pay.
