Certificates of completion
Some courses give a certificate of completion, to those who ask for one. For courses taken online you receive it when you finish the last lesson; for live courses, after the course, once attendance is final and every session is attended or made up (see Finishing a course). Either way we email you a link to it.
It is our own certificate that you completed the course. It is not a CE certificate, which comes from the CE provider, though it does list the CE credits you took (see the end of this page).
Asking for one
The registration form asks: tick I would like a certificate of completion. It starts unticked, and only those who ask receive a certificate.
Changed your mind? On My courses, the course's card says whether you asked. Choose Ask for one, or I do not need one, at any time during the course or after it, until the certificate has been issued. If you finished a course online before asking, it is issued as soon as you ask.
Quizzes
Where a course has a quiz, it counts as finished once you pass it. After you submit, your answers stay on screen with the right ones marked and a short explanation. Choose Try again for a fresh attempt; you can take a quiz as often as you like, and once you have passed, Retake for practice does not change that.
Finding it
Your certificates are on My courses, under Certificates, and on the course's own card.
Printing and saving
Open it and press Print or save as PDF. It is laid out for US Letter paper.
Showing it to someone
Every certificate has its own link and a code printed at the bottom. Anyone you share the link with sees that it is genuine. Someone with only a paper copy can type the code at Check a certificate.
A mistake in your name
Write to us at admin@orinyc.org and we will correct it. The link shows the corrected name straight away.
CE certificates, where a course carries CE, come from the approving body rather than from this page.
CE credits on the certificate
If you took the course with CE credits, your certificate lists them under Academic Credits Earned, with the hours from the provider you claim CE through (each of them, if your license is covered by more than one). The CE certificate from the provider itself is separate; it comes from the provider once you have filled in its CE evaluation.
