Finishing a course
After a live course, we check attendance for everyone who asked for a certificate of completion or took CE credits. If you asked for neither, there is nothing to do.
Every session counts
A certificate of completion, and CE, asks for every session. A session counts as attended when it is marked Attended on your attendance page (on Zoom, when you were in it for at least 80% of its time). Any other session (partly attended, missed, or excused) is one you make up. Sessions before you registered do not count.
Once the team has checked attendance, it is made final and we email you:
- You attended every session: you have completed it, and your certificate of completion, if you asked for one, arrives by email.
- You missed a session: we email you its recording, the course materials, and a link to write a short reflection. If the recording is not ready yet, we email you as soon as it is.
Making up a missed session
- Open the recording from the email, or from the course's card in My courses, under Missed sessions.
- On the same page, write your reflection: at least 250 words on what you learned from the session and how you will use it. The box unlocks once you have opened the recording, and counts your words as you type.
- Choose Send reflection.
There is no deadline. A member of the team reads each reflection. If they ask for a change, you see Sent back with their note, and can send it again. Until it is read, you can still edit it.
When every missed session is made up, you have completed the course, and your certificate of completion follows by email.
Your certificate of completion
It goes only to those who ask; you can ask at any time on My courses, even after the course. If you have already completed it, it is issued straight away. See Certificates of completion.
Your CE certificate
Your CE certificate comes from the body that approved the course for your profession, not from us. Once you have completed the course, we send you the CE email, saying how to claim it from the body for your license: your hours, the link and the steps. Some ask you to answer the CE evaluation first; the email then comes once you have. The links are also on the course's card in My courses.
Each body takes requests for a limited time after the course, usually 90 days, so please claim yours soon. See CE credits.
On a full scholarship
A full (100%) scholarship does not include a certificate of completion or CE credits, so none of this applies.
Questions
My attendance is wrong. Choose This is not right beside the session on your attendance page, as soon as you can. If we correct it, the session no longer needs making up.
The recording does not open. Write to us at admin@orinyc.org.
